The facilities and comforts of the five-star Hotel Arts will make it difficult for guests to bring themselves to leave the hotel, but when they do they will find an enchanting city just waiting to be explored.

Artistically, Barcelona is characterised by the works of notorious Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi, who worked in a Gothic and later an increasingly Art Nouveau style. The centrepoint of his contribution to the city is the Sagrada Familia. An awe-inspiring catholic church, the Sagrada Familia was incomplete at the time of Gaudi’s death and whilst being over 120 years old is still officially under construction. Gaudi is buried in one of the crypts of his unfinished masterpiece.  Further examples of his distinctive style can be found throughout Barcelona, including Park Güell, Casa Calvet and the unnerving, skeletal-like Casa Batlló, and several have collectively been designated as an official UNESCO heritage site. On a similar theme, Barcelona also houses the Picasso Museum which carries an extensive collection of Picasso’s works and a range of temporary exhibitions.

A simple stroll around the city will uncover a number of charming attractions, for example the Gothic Quarter with its maze of narrow streets hiding some of Barcelona’s most striking architecture and a whole range of shopping opportunities. Alternatively, Las Ramblas is probably the most famous street in the city. A wide boulevard stretching from the centre out to the coast, Las Ramblas has shops, restaurants and some idiosyncratic visitor attractions, making it very popular with tourists. Those looking for a family day out will enjoy a trip to Barcelona Zoo, located in the Parc de la Ciutadella, or L’Aquarium Barcelona at the marina. Alternatively, if you are a football fan, then Nou Camp Stadium, home of Barcelona Football Club, is only a short drive from the hotel, and offers complete tours of the grounds.
